Irene’s Fallout: Floods, Power Problems & Travel Delays
Disaster declarations stretch up and down the eastern seaboard as states continue to calculate new damage being done by flooding from hurricane Irene.

Other issues facing folks in the Northeast have to do with lack of electricity and transit woes. More than 2.5 million people are still without power.

Vermont is being hit especially hard by floodwaters. Some rivers still haven’t reached their peak. Bridges and roads have been washed away. Airlifts are being planned to assist people with supplies in towns that have been cut off by the rising waters.
