Supercommittee Deadline Looms With No Deal Close

Face to face, but not eye to eye.  The bi-partisan, defict cutting committee in Congress is approaching a midnight deadline tonight, without a super deal.

Not only is there no deal, but Committee members say the two sides never even got close to agreeing.  Democratic Senator John Kerry said his party has been willing to compromise on how much in tax increases, starting with 1.3 trillion dollars:

Kerry: “And that was refused.  We then went down to a trillion of revenue, that was refused.  650 of revenue, refused.  300 plus, refused.”

Republican Senator Jon Kyl said his party put a breakthrough tax reform proposal on the table, and it was refused.
