2011 in Review: Sports Deaths

As we say goodbye to 2011, we look back at some of the sports superstars who died this year.

FOX News Radio’s Hank Weinbloom reports in our special “2011 in Review”:

He was at the top of his sport.

“Dan Wheldon is going to win the race…”

…the Indy 500…

“It’s unbelievable, man.”

…but five months later:

“A huge crash…”

…Dan Wheldon died, doing what he loved to do and did so well.

Other sports legends: Smokin’ Joe Frazier.

“The Heavyweight Champion of the World.”

Multiple marathon winner Grete Waitz.

“The New York City Marathon is very special.”

Seve Ballesteros, held in high regard by fellow golfers like Tiger Woods.

“Just the way he played, it was fun to watch.”

Baseball greats Harmon Killebrew and the Duke of Flatbush.

“Duke Snider slams another homerun over the scoreboard.”

Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis.

“Just win, baby.”

NFL stars John Mackey and Bubba Smith.  And a superstar of wrestling: Randy “Macho Man” Savage.

“Savage going to the outside.  Here’s why Macho’s the best right here.”
