Transgender Woman To Compete in Miss Universe Canada

A woman who was born a man, but underwent a sex-change operation will be able to compete for Canada’s spot in the Miss Universe contest after all.

FOX News Radio’s Chris Stanley has the story:

Audio clip:

For a while there, 23-year-old Jenna Talackova was an unhappy camper, barred from entering the Miss Canada competition next month because she’d had a sex-change operation four years ago, and the Miss Universe Canada Pageant said she must be “naturally born a woman”.

(Talackova) “I am a woman. I was devastated, and I felt that excluding me for the reason that they gave was unjust.”

Now Donald Trump, who owns the Miss Universe organization, says that rule’s being re-evaluated and Talackova can compete.

(Talackova) “I have never asked for any special consideration. I only wanted to compete.”

Trump wishing her “the best of luck in her quest for the crown” as he would any other contestant.

she should be excluded! she is not a woman! just because you change your junk and dress the part it doesn't change who u r! go about your life however you want but don't expect everyone to change the rules for you and then cry discrimination and foul when it doesn't work out to your benefit. A chevette with a corvette engine in it is still a Chevette!

I am all for "live & let live" and I have no issues with people choosing to be transgender. I do, however, feel we should be drawing the line at including them in events such as this where they are biologically NOT a woman. I mean no disrepsect but I don't feel it's fair to the natural born women who enter this contest. Just because a doctor removes the male parts and replaces them with female parts, does NOT make that person a female….biologically, physiologically or naturally. If the government as a whole isn't going to accept gay marriage and refuse spousal benefits in such cases, then why would it be okay to accept THIS person as a woman (in the eyes of the contest rules) She is beautiful, she may be smart and wonderful and loving. But she is NOT a woman.

It is a beauty contest and that is what should matter. Let her be judged on beauty not on the gender in which she was born.

No. There are competitions within the gay community for that. This diminishes everything Miss America, Miss USA or Miss Universe stand for as the wholesome woman……one of intelligence and physically fit body. This person's body has been altered from its original birth and would qualify as an acceptable specimen of the female of the human species.

If a chicuacua were altered to compete as a Maltese in AKC competitions, would that be acceptable? I don't think it would. The judges know the genetics of every species and the dog's genealogy. It would not be accted as a competitor from its first local show.

Well I guess one way to have this overturned is for everyone against this is to email all the sponcers of the event and let them know you will not purchase their products anymore.
This is a joke beyond thought, what people will do to get attention and or make a buck.
Do the contestents not have to have a sponcer or can anyone just get in?????

Oh who cares really about beauty pageants enough to draw a moral line in the sand with this case. It is just a contest for the contestants and theater for those who wish to watch. If a woman who used to be a man wants to compete WHO CARES!

wow any wonder the kids are killing in schools …look at what their parents are posting shame on you.I bet your kids are the bullies at school. Just because were not all the same, doesnt make it right for you to descriminate and were you with her to know what she is or was . Regarless of parts born with she at least has the guts to be who she really is. I bet your closet is not that clean . She could have said nothing and you wouldnt even know. Kudos to her and I can only hope the children you pretend to love grow up gay or your wife admits she was a man at birth that would open your eyes real fast

Get a grip on yourself, Lord or Lady of Drama. Let women have their own contest without a man invading their space yet once again. We men have enough already – changing our form to get more is B.S.

I too agree this person should not be allowed to enter. Why? Take a look at what traditionally is a woman's domain in society. Cooking, clothing are commonly still associated with women, yet MEN have always dominated as Chefs and Designers.

Yes, women are involved in all trades and professions today, but I think they still need an area to call their own. Allow one guy in – open the door to many more. Enough breaking of boundaries, we need a breather from whacky!

This is not fair letting a non-biological woman participate in this contest. This is an insult for women in the contest. We should remove him/her from the competition.

In this day and age,it still amazes me that we as canadians let silly stuff like this happen. My hats off to Jenna for finding her self, unfortunatly that is as far as I am willing to go. We as canadians have been caving in for years when it comes to traditions. for example Our rcmp have had the same uniform code for over 150 years and it took 1 sikh to change the hole thing and include cerimonial daggers and Turbans. I have no problems with sikh's nor their religious beliefs, but you are in our country and I dare say that if 150 years ago our rcmp ever thought that they would be wearing cerimonial daggers and turbans they probably would have shot themselves. So i think what I am trying to say, is that If the Miss universe pagent is for woman. then only women should enter. Sorry, Jenna. If it walks Like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck. Not a Goose.

Well whether you don't like it or not for all of you she will still be a Miss Contestant . Some of you guys look what she was before basically all of you are reflecting her past and not what she is now. Is like if I would had say Before my house was ugly and hoarded but now after is better ,good condition and look nicer and I'm happy. Which one would you guys prefer how the house was before or the after

Why is Fox calling this eunuch a woman? He's a man and always will be a man. Sloppy reporting.

well maybe this just goes to show you that putting man or woman on display in any setting is wrong. There shouldn't even be this crazy competition that classifies people into a beautiful or non beautiful category just like there should be no debate on whether this transgendered woman should compete..
