Housecall For Health: Hacker Proof Pacemakers

Some medical devices have been so upgraded that the devices themselves communicate directly to the health care provider. The wireless communication between the two leaves an opportunity for hackers to wreak havoc on a human body.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports on what can be done to stop this problem in today’s edition of Housecall for Health:

Most know the hacking of cell phones and e-mail accounts is common, but what about your heart? Researchers from Purdue and Princeton Universities have developed a solution to what could be a catastrophic problem; a signal jamming personal firewall for pacemakers and other medical devices. The firewall detects potentially dangerous signals to wearable and implanted devices. Similar to military technology, it prevents harmful commands that could cause the device to fail.
