New Route For The Keystone Pipeline?

The Keystone Pipeline debate is officially underway again, with Friday’s re-application. So what’s different about this plan?

The State Department has a new application from the Canadian company that wants to build the oil pipeline to the Gulf Coast. The company, Transcanada, says an alternate track across Nebraska will avoid environmentally sensitive areas that led President Obama to reject an earlier plan.

Schild: “We’re certainly hoping that we can now see this project move forward.”

Cindy Schild of the American Petroleum Institute says the President now has no excuse for not approving the pipeline. The State Department’s review is expected to take until early next year to finish.
