Republicans Nominate Romney for President

Mitt Romney is the Republicans nominee for President.  A roll call vote on Tuesday allowed each state to formally pledge its delegates.

FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern was on the Convention floor when Romney reached the number of delegates needed to seal the nomination, with those delegates coming from a state that’s playing a big role in tonight’s program:

He is over the top on delegate counts.  The final votes needed: the 50 delegates coming from New Jersey.  New Jersey, with their 50 delegates putting Mitt Romney over the top at the Republican National Convention.  New Jersey, also home of the governor that will deliver the final speech here tonight, the Keynote Address coming from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

Again, Mitt Romney, the nominee for the Republican Party thanks to the 50 delegates from New Jersey sending him over the top.

The roll call vote of states puts an end to a long primary fight that saw several candidates top the polls during early in the voting season, before settling on Romney as their nominee.  Each of those former competitors, with the exception of Texas Rep. Ron Paul, has thrown their support behind Romney.
